Barry M Unicorn Primer Drops - Review

February 17, 2019
Barry M brought out their Unicorn Primer Drops a wee while ago. I had seen posts about them and kept putting a bottle in my basket when I was in superdrug but each time I would convince myself before I got to the till 'you don't need the'. It wasn't till my twin bought a bottle I was envious of her. I watched her use it one time and it looked so beautiful on the skin but even in the dropper... a pink glittery serum. What else could a girl be after?

The Unicorn Primer Drops are used to prep the skin before applying makeup. The good thing about this primer is that it is oil free and its packed with superfruits such as: acai berry, goji berry, watermelon and tamarind. The primer brightens, detoxifies, hydrates and smoohs the skin for both the perfect primer and skin care treatment. A two in one product, what more could you want... especially when you are lazy like me and don't have a very good skin care routine (don't hate me).

I've seen a fair few people say that the Barry M Primer Drops remind them of the Farsali Unicorn Essence. Both in the bottles looks as they are both purple but also because the serums are both pink and are both used in very similar ways (before application of makeup). I've never used the Farsali Unicorn Essence so I can't tell you myself if they are similar but to have something in the drugstore that reminds people of it is pretty good thing in my eyes (I do love the drugstore due to the makeup not being extremely expensive).

When I applied the unicorn drops my skin felt hydrated and very fresh, this is something I look for in a primer as if your wearing makeup for a long time you want your face to feel its best before you apply it. My face also felt slightly tacky feeling so this might put you off wearing the product on it's own. I personally like the tacky feeling before applying my makeup as it reminds me a wee bit like glue and makes me think my makeup will last longer.

I've used the primer drops under three foundations so far: Urban Decay naked skin (which I have a review of here), Rimmel wake me up and Barry M's all night long foundation. The drops made my makeup certainly stayed on longer and look like how it should (like how I applied it), rather than areas looking a off. I find that areas in my face can quickly start looking off especially on nights out if i'm dancing and in a warm, crowded environment but these drops certainly helped that not happening and kept my foundation in tacked all night long. And... on one occasion I slept in my makeup and my makeup still looked okay when I woke up. (I do not recommend sleeping in makeup... I got in late and just wanted my bed).

What's even better about these drops is they retail at... £7.99 which is such a steal. Especially since they work so well. They are also Vegan which for you vegans out there is good to know.

I know certainly my sister loves them too and sings their praises to people who ask her what primer she uses. Barry M, you have done AMAZING on these drops. I will indeed be buying these drops when I run out of my current bottle and I know my sister is on her second or third bottle.

Have you tried the Barry M Unicorn Primer Drops? If so, did you like them as much as me?

  3. I've never used primer drops! I don't even really use a proper primer under my makeup either, I probably should give the drops a go, they sound pretty good.
